The Not-For-Profit Network Awards program recognises people, project, partnerships and organisations who exemplify best practice in the nonprofit sectors in Australia and New Zealand. Awards have a strong focus on individuals, organisations, partnerships and projects whose actions help the organisation to be more sustainable, are focused on achieving the organisation’s vision, and contribute to the organisation’s success.

Nomination and Entry Information
- All nominees will be invited to enter the awards by the extended entry deadline 28th August 2008.
- Nominees provide further information to support their nomination, referencing key criteria. This becomes their entry.
- For people who missed the nomination dates, all entries are welcome without a nomination.
- Entries are assessed against key criteria by a judging panel of representatives from the not-for-profit sector.
- Finalists will be announced at www.nfpn.com.au on 14 October 2008. Finalists are expected to purchase a ticket and attend Awards night.
- Winners will be announced at the Not-For-Profit Network Awards night on Friday 14 November 2008 in Brisbane (final night of the International Not-for-profit Convention and Exhibition).
Awards Nomination Guidelines, Terms & Conditions
Judges and Judging Process
This is a peer-judged program. Judges are volunteers from nonprofit organisations. Judges’ organisations are ineligible to enter the awards program. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Judges provide a list of up to four finalists in each category and one winner.
Sponsorship
Sponsorship is available for each category and for the awards night on Friday 14 November 2008 (unless sold out). Contact NFPN for more information.
What is the difference between a nomination and an entry?
A nomination is the initial 250 word submission to nominate a not-for-profit organisation, person, project or partnership. Nominations may be made by any individual.
When a nomination has been received, the nominee is invited to enter. This entry is a more detailed document that references key criteria. Entries can only come from not-for-profit organisations.
Who can nominate?
Anyone can nominate.
How much does it cost to nominate?
There is no cost to nominate.
Do you need to be nominated to enter?
No. Entries are welcome regardless of whether a nomination has been made.
Who can enter?
Any nonprofit organisation or individual representing a nonprofit organisation in Australia and/or New Zealand. You do not need to be nominated to enter – i.e. you can self-nominate.
How much does it cost to enter?
There is no cost to enter this program.
Nomination process
Nominations are received via email, post or web. Those nominated are contacted by NFPN and invited to enter. Entries are distributed to judges for judging. Entries may be used in media. Finalists are advised and announced at www.nfpn.com.au on 14 October 2008. Winners are announced at awards night in Brisbane on Friday 14 November 2008.

Privacy and media
Nominations and entries remain the property of Not-For-Profit Network. Nominations and entries may be used to generate media coverage of the program and/or nominee and/or finalist and/or winner. Part of the entry process is to provide information for distribution to media and via media to the general public.
Benefits of entering
By entering the Not-For-Profit Network Awards, your organisation will have the opportunity to evaluate and commend the hard work produced by individuals as well as group projects. Your organisation will also take a closer look at its methods for sustainability, and how to further its cause and reinforce the mission for why the organisation exists.
Eligibility
People or organisations entering the awards must meet the following criteria for eligibility:
- Award entry must be submitted by a representative of a not-for-profit organisation. You do not need to be nominated to enter.
- Entrant must be based in Australia or New Zealand.
- The submission must relate to an action, activity, project, etc occurring in the past year, although it may have been occurring for longer than the previous 12 months.
- Whichever category you are entering, your reason for recognising this person, project, or activity must work towards achieving your organisation’s vision.
- You are able to enter yourself, your own organisation, partnership or project.
- If one of our judges works for your organisation in a paid or voluntary capacity you are not eligible to enter.
- Entries must be received by the Not-For-Profit Network by close of business on 28 August 2008
The entrant must suit the following criteria for the relevant category:
- Organisation of the Year must be a not-for-profit organisation in Australia or New Zealand
- CEO of the Year must be a Chief Executive Officer, Executive Officer, Executive Director or otherwise titled head of a not-for-profit organisation in Australia or New Zealand
- Team Member of the Year must be a paid or volunteer team member of a not-for-profit organisation in Australia or New Zealand
- Board Member of the Year must sit on the board of a not-for-profit organisation based in Australia or New Zealand
- Project of the Year must be any internal project of a not-for-profit organisation in Australia or New Zealand - e.g. program, campaign or activity
- Partnership of the Year must be a project or program in which at least two not-for-profit organisations in Australia or New Zealand are involved, plus any other not-for-profit, corporate or government organisation/s
