The SMC building is regarded as one of Sydney's most architecturally significant buildings being a prime example of the 'Brutalistic' style designed by Joseland Gilling. The Centre offers 16 spaces of varying sizes and purposes making it the ideal location for any event from large conferences, exhibitions and Gala Dinners to small business meetings.
We offer the convenience of In-House Catering and Audio Visual. The SMC has a Business Centre and we provide free wireless broadband for all our guests. Christchurch Convention Centre is New Zealand's only purpose-built international convention facility. It is linked by airbridge to the Christchurch Town Hall, the city's premier performing arts centre. The Westpac Centre is the country's largest indoor sports and entertainment centre and has hosted world class events since opening in September 1998.
The Christchurch Convention Centre has capabilities to host 2200 delegates theatre style in the three halls and at the Westpac Centre can hold gala dinners of over 2000 people. There are 11 break out rooms and the Town hall Auditorium holds 2584 people, great for larger plenary sessions. The James Hay Theatre is a smaller theatre holding 1006 people.
